Welcome to Dutch Creek
Community Overview
The subdivision of Dutch Creek is located just south of the spectacular Hoodoos, five kilometers south of Fairmont Hot Springs along Hwy 93/95. It is a community within Area F of the Regional District of the East Kootenay (RDEK). The Dutch Creek community is unique in respect to our location, the view of the Hoodoos, the sound of the river, proximity to Fairmont Hot Springs and the involvement of the residents of the community.
Dutch Creek Utility Company
In 1978, the subdivision developers incorporated Dutch Creek Utility Company Ltd. as a corporation under the Companies Act of the Province of BC.
This website is maintained by the Dutch Creek Utility Company Ltd., and provides information for the public, such a such as contact information for the Board and directions to the community.
Seasonal Facilities
The Dutch Creek Utility Company operates and maintains a swimming pool and a number of seasonal games facilities to its residents and their guests.
Swimming Pool
The pool is located adjacent to the pool parking lot at the north end of Raven Road. Deck chairs and umbrellas are provided, along with washroom and change room facilities.
The pool is open to residents and their guests from the first weekend in July through the Labour Day weekend each year.
Residents and guests must abide by the COVID-19 rules.
Tennis, Pickleball and Basketball Courts
Located adjacent to the swimming pool, there are two paved tennis courts with embedded pickle ball courts, a practice board for tennis and two basketball nets. Basic equipment is kept in storage containers inside the courts. Courts are surrounded by a 12 foot high mesh fence.
Note: A restricted pool key is required to access the pool area and the tennis/basketball courts
Frisbee/Disc Golf Course
The Frisbee/disc golf course begins just north of the pool parking lot and loops around to the west then north then east and then west back to the starting area. There are nine holes set up as par-3 holes and designed for family fun. Frisbees are stored in storage containers inside the tennis courts and game cards are available from a lunch box on the fence adjacent to hole #1.
Horseshoe Pitch
A single pitch is located on the south side of the pool house. Horseshoes hang on the south exterior wall of the pool house.
Beach Volleyball Court
This is located immediately west of the pool parking lot.
Fire Restrictions
The East Kootenays are regularly subject to fire restrictions. The fire restrictions information sign at the community entrance will be changed to “Fire Ban in Effect” when this condition is active. For fire restriction details as well as up to date information, please visit BC Wildfire Service.
Wildlife, Waste and Recycling
Please keep all food and garbage indoors to avoid problems with wildlife in the community. For more information about bear safety, visit the Wild Safe BC or BC Parks websites.
Garbage and recycling can be taken to the Fairmont Waste Transfer site. If you are travelling northbound out of Fairmont on Highway 93/95, the transfer site is the first left after the Welcome to Fairmont sign. If you get to the intersection of the Kootenay No. 3 Road, you have gone too far. Items not accepted there may be taken to the Columbia Valley Landfill on Windermere Loop Road.
